NHP Consulting provides natural health product (nhp) regulatory consulting services for the Canadian market. Our core service is providing Product Licence Applications (PLA's) for nhp's, which are the preliminary steps for obtaining product licences (called Natural Product Numbers, NPN's).
We have successfully helped hundreds of companies worldwide launch their natural products onto the Canadian marketplace - including energy drinks, weight loss supplements, herbal tinctures, multi-vitamins and topical skin products.
NHP Consulting Inc was a leading participant in the Save Our Natural Health Products campaign that was adopted by the Canadian Health Food Association (CHFA). Our company owner and President, Brian Wagner, was the principal author behind the
Program Advisory Committee (PAC) evidence standards changes. Brian's work has stemmed from the NHP Industry Roundtable, a grassroots gathering of concerned suppliers which has played a significant role in evidence standards proceedings.
The NHP Licensing Crisis

Presently, the Natural Health Products Directorate (NHPD) oversees the licensing of these products in Canada. Even though an Exemption Number (EN) is issued as a temporary licence if they haven't licensed your product within 180 days, an EN is easily lost and offers no safeguard against a refusal. NHP Consulting is actively engaged with discussions at the most senior level of Health Canada through the Canadian Health Food Association (CHFA).
