Background Up until March 1st 2016, the only ISO 13485 quality management system recognized by Health Canada and accepted as part of a Medical Device or Medical Device Establishment License (MDEL) application was a Canadian Medical Devices Conformity Assessment System (CMDCAS) ISO13485:2003 certificate from an approved registrar.
