Novel Food Submission
The pre-market novel food notification procedure administered by the Food Directorate is usually a two-stage process. The first stage is a formal determination whether an ingredient is in fact “novel”, and (assuming it is) the safety of the novel ingredient is then reviewed by the Food Directorate in the second stage.
NHP Consulting can help determine if your food is a novel food and, in the case of ambiguity, file the formal request for a novelty determination with Health Canada. If the second stage of the novel food notification is required, our expert consultants can assemble the safety and technical manufacturing data required for the submission and liaise with Health Canada on your behalf until a regulatory decision on your novel food is reached.
